A LITTLE ABOUT OUR HISTORY
1900
THE BEGINNING
1936: Josef Amort, who runs the Karlsbader Hut, built the Dolomiten Hut at his favorite spot on the way between Lienz and the Lienz Dolomites. After initial difficulties, the hut could only be operated in winter and, with a lot of patience and persuasion from the authorities, then also in summer.
1930
THE FIRST RENOVATION
1989 After two interim tenants, Hans Wibmer took over the Dolomitenhütte at the end of the 1980s and ran it with heart and soul for 18 years. In the meantime, access was also secured in the form of an asphalt toll road.
1970
IT BECOMES CULT
In 2007, the Oles family became the owners of the Dolomitenhütte. It was renovated and extensively remodeled. This means that the Dolomitenhütte is secured as a jewel of the Lienz Dolomites for generations to come.
2000
THE COMPLETION
In 2012, the Ole family built a room with a phenomenal view of the Lienz local mountain, the Spitzkofel, under the current panoramic terrace. Another step towards making the Dolomitenhütte an unforgettable experience.

The restaurant
The Dolomitenhütte restaurant serves traditional Tyrolean delicacies. Vegetarian and vegan dishes are also available, so there is something for every taste. The kitchen is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Winter: The Dolomitenstraße is closed from mid-December to mid-March due to the toboggan run. Travel is only possible as far as Kreithof (approx. 1.5 hours walk to the Dolomitenhütte).

Summer activities: Hiking, climbing, mountaineering, mountain biking, etc.

The Dolomitenhütte is an ideal location for outdoor weddings with a terrace and a view of the Lienz Dolomites Nature Park. There are 90 seats in the hut, 70 on the terrace, high-quality regional cuisine, accommodation with breakfast, childcare, shuttle service and partner recommendations for all wedding details.
